Resin Transfer molding of High-Fluidity Polyamide-6 with modified Glass-Fabric preforms

چکیده
In Resin Transfer Molding (RTM), resin precursors of thermoset or, more recently, thermoplastic polymers are generally employed, raising issues related to the chemical reaction taking place during and after part processing. this study, already polymerized polyamide-6 with low melt-viscosity (~30 Pa·s at 280 °C), is injected pressure (<30 bar) in a custom-made mold, so as impregnate glass fabric preforms via in-plane impregnation. Composite plates were produced using interply spacers acting flow-enhancers. A three-step impregnation strategy, involving fast injection, successive saturation step through transverse flow, followed by further micro-saturation caused collapse spacers, ensured industrially relevant kinetics. The influence spacer, time, temperature on process kinetics quality evaluated three-point bending tests well microstructural analyses. Optimum processing parameters identified scaled up for given geometry.

Modeling of Resin Transfer Molding
Resin Transfer Molding (RTM), as a method for the manufacture of advanced ber reinforced composite materials, is attractive because it ooers the possibility of lower manufacturing costs and more complex shapes than traditional methods. A major issue in this new manufacturing process is the elimination of void spaces in the resin ll operation, so that products with high quality are manufactured....
متن کاملMoisture Diffusion Properties of Fabric Composite (Glass Fiber/Epoxy Resin)
In this study, the effect of hygrothermal conditioning on the moisture diffusion properties of the fabric composite (glass fiber/epoxy resin) was investigated. The water uptake of the specimens conditioned in humid environment at different relative humidities (0, 60 and 96 % r.h) at constant temperature (60°C) was evaluated by weight gain measurements. The moisture diffusion properties of the f...

Background and Aim: One of the weaknesses of Class II composite resin restorations is gingival microleakage which contributes to postoperative sensitivity and secondary caries. The aim was to evaluate the microleakage in Class II composite resin restorations with different thicknesses of resin-modified glass ionomer (RMGI). Materials and Methods: In this in-vitro study, standardized Class II s...
متن کاملDirect Adaptive Control of Resin Transfer Molding
Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) is a manufacturing process that involves injection of liquid resin into a closed mold cavity containing preset fiber mats and a subsequent curing stage. Mold filling is a crucial stage for quality part productions. In order to automate production and minimize the formation of defects, control of mold filling is needed. In this paper, direct adaptive control strategy...
متن کاملParameter Estimation for Resin Transfer Molding
A simplified approach for estimating weld lines, vent locations and fill times for resin transfer molding applications in non-planar geometry is presented. The molding parts are treated as polyhedral spaces for which the concept of Voronoi diagram and shortest paths is utilized to predict the formation of weld lines, location of vents and filling times. The approach is based purely on geometric...
